National d'Etudes Spatiales
CNES
is the French Space Agency. Its principal responsabilities are :
- the
preparation of future space programmes,
- the
development of scientific and application activities,
- the
conception and management of large industrial projects,
- the
development of know-how in the national industry,
- the
participation, as French representative to European Space Agency, to
the conception, realisation and utilisation of the european programmes.
CNES
centres are located in Paris (Headquarters), Evry (Development of the
Ariane launcher), Toulouse (R&D, development of large industrial projects,
operations) and French Guyana (launch site).
